Oleksandr Zinchenko breaks his silence on Kyle Walker incident during Man City vs Arsenal
Oleksandr Zinchenko’s career with Arsenal has gotten off to a tremendous start.
During the summer transfer window, Zinchenko arrived from Premier League champions Manchester City in a deal worth approximately £35 million.
Since then, the gifted defender has established himself as one of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s teamsheet, performing admirably as an inverted left-back while his team has topped the league standings for the past six months.
And the former club of the Ukrainian, City, are currently second in the table, five points behind the Gunners despite having played one more game than their title rivals.
Last month’s fourth-round FA Cup match was Zinchenko’s first return to the Etihad Stadium, but it did not go according to plan as the home team won 1-0.
Kyle Walker was observed teasing Zinchenko after the game, clearly irritating his former teammate before the 26-year-old began to calm down as more City players approached him.
Now, the Arsenal player has discussed his relationship with other members of Pep Guardiola’s squad and admitted that he is eager to exact revenge when the two teams meet on Wednesday night in the league.
“I still keep in touch with most of them; we are friends and always will be,” he told Vbet News. “Yeah, they won that match, and they were joking with me.
“But I hope we will get revenge next Wednesday.” Zinchenko also played down talk surrounding the Gunners’ title charge, claiming that they are merely taking it one game at a game at the moment.
“Honestly I’m not going to give any promises because there is still a long way to go,” he added. “There is a lot of talk about our title race but the Premier League is the toughest league in the World and you saw, Everton is in the relegation zone but they beat us.
“Anything can happen in the league and we just need to go step by step.”
