Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel issues a cautionary note to the current manager, Graham Potter.
Speaking on the Ayurvedic Healing and Beyond Podcast (via Daily Mail), former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel warned current manager Graham Potter that if he continues to lose games, nobody will have faith in the process.
The Blues have lost their last four league games, including a thumping at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion and a humiliation at the hands of Arsenal. As a result of these outcomes, they are now far below where they had hoped to be in the standings.
Tuchel, who won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, was fired earlier this season due to a sluggish start.
He stated that no one will remember or have faith in the process because, in the current era, everything depends on the outcome.
“My experience in Chelsea, Paris, Dortmund and Mainz, it is about the results.
“You can overcome one loss, a short period… but it cannot be too long otherwise nobody trusts the process no more.”
Therefore, it would be a bit premature to judge the Potter era at Chelsea based solely on the recent results.
Due to the scheduling of the games and his commitment, the upcoming World Cup would be a welcome opportunity for him to take a break and organize the team’s tactics for the future.
Injuries to key players have also hindered the cause, with Reece James and N’Golo Kante missing a significant portion of games under Potter and the latter missing every game so far under the new manager.
Nevertheless, it would be morale-boosting for Chelsea to defeat Newcastle United in the league on Saturday. It would be a fantastic way to conclude the first half of the season.
