‘No less’: Liverpool supporters will love Aston Villa Lucas Digne’s message ahead of Man City game
The Premier League championship race will be decided on the final day of the season, with an ex-Everton defender, Lucas Digne, perhaps helping Liverpool to victory if Aston Villa wins at Manchester City.
The fact that Digne has stated that they will aim for ‘no less’ than three points against Manchester City will be music to the ears of Liverpool fans.
Of course, Steven Gerrard’s team doesn’t need three points, but a draw, along with Liverpool’s win over Wolves at Anfield, means the title battle has headed to Merseyside.
There are numerous storylines that may be told, ranging from Philippe Coutinho possibly assisting his former squad to Jack Grealish winning the title against his former side.
In any case, when asked what Villa might expect at the Etihad, Digne delivered a simple yet direct answer.
“Three points, no less,” said Digne. “We go there to show our quality to show our style and we will see what happens.
“It’s one of the biggest teams in the world. But we have some quality and we want to achieve this season in the best way.”
Everton manager Rafa Benitez was still in charge when Digne, a crucial player, was sold to Aston Villa during the January transfer window.
Now, the France international might have a significant impact on Liverpool’s chances of repeating as English champions.
On the final day of the season, there are so many fairy tale stories to be told, and Man City fans know all too well that anything can happen.
Given Man City’s recent record against Villa, this one should be easy, but that’s what makes everything more fascinating.
