After their 1-0 victory over Switzerland on Monday at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Brazil national squad appeared to be missing Neymar Jr., but Manchester United midfielder Casemiro came to the rescue.
Astonishingly, Casemiro scored the game-winning goal after 80 scoreless minutes in which neither team was able to strike the back of the net.
Neymar took to social media following Brazil’s goal and victory to declare Casemiro the best midfielder in the world. The former Real Madrid great stepped up when the South American team needed a replacement for the absent Paris Saint-Germain front in the group round.
“Casemiro has been the best midfielder in the world for a long time,” Neymar said on Twitter.
Brazil is now in the knockout stage and will finish in first place in their group. They can now begin preparations for Neymar’s return to the starting eleven, where he will be needed for their Round of 16 matchup.
As of now, the Seleço will meet Ghana, but the situation could change as the World Cup enters the last round of group stage matches.
