New Chelsea striker writes heartfelt message as he departs club to head to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea had already made one summer deal before the fines were imposed.

With the current scenario preventing them from signing any new players, there will undoubtedly be one new player arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Of course, more will join Mason Burstow once the new owners take over, but the teenage striker has played his final game for Charlton Athletic, where he was on loan this season after signing for Chelsea in the winter.

Mason Burstow, a Charlton Athletic forward, has taken to Instagram to send a message with the club’s supporters ahead of his move to Chelsea.

The forward’s contract with Charlton will officially end on May 31st, and he will join Chelsea’s senior squad for the 2022/23 season.

Burstow, a product of the Addicks’ academy, made his senior debut against Crawley Town in the EFL Trophy last year.

The 18-year-old marked his first appearance by scoring a goal and assisting in a 6-1 triumph.

In this competition, the forward scored against Aston Villa’s Under-21 team, Milton Keynes Dons, and Hartlepool United before gaining the notice of Chelsea, who decided to swoop for him.

Burstow played his farewell game for Charlton last month against Morecambe.

Despite creating a goal in this game, Burstow’s team was defeated 3-2 by their opponents.

Ahead of his permanent departure from Charlton, the forward thanked the club’s fans on Instagram for their outpouring of support following the announcement of his move to Chelsea.

Burstow posted: “Dear Charlton Athletic, it’s time to say goodbye, I want to thank you for everything you’ve done for me.

“I signed for Charlton September 2020 on a scholarship and signed my first professional contract July 2021 where I developed as a footballer and as a person whilst gaining lifetime friends along the way.

“This club has given me a platform and many opportunities to showcase myself and develop as a person as well as a footballer.

“I used to be a young local fan who sat in The Valley dreaming to play there one day… that dream came true and I can’t thank you enough.

Many thanks to all the fans that have had my back from the start and shown nothing but support throughout this season, despite signing for Chelsea Football Club.

“We have had many ups and downs as a family through the year, but we got through it together and I’m sure this amazing club will be back to where it belongs one day.

“This chapter of my life has come to an end and I’m sad to see it go but excited for new beginnings.

“Wishing you all the best, Mason Burstow.”
