New bidders confident of buying Manchester United  as they ready huge offer

The club’s current owners, the Glazer family, are looking to sell but have set a mid-February deadline for bids, and a sale appeared unlikely before then.

The Daily Mail reports, however, that a group of ‘private, wealthy individuals’ from Qatar are prepared to make a massive offer in the coming days and are willing to provide Erik ten Hag with a substantial transfer budget if they do acquire the club.

The Qatari group is not the only interested party, as Jim Ratcliffe has expressed his intent to purchase the club.

The Ineos billionaire, one of Britain’s wealthiest men, is a Manchester United fan and may be preferred by some fans, but Qatar’s offer could be significantly larger.

The Glazers are seeking approximately £6bn for Manchester United, so whoever buys the club will have to come up with a staggering sum of money.

Then, there will be a massive bill to either redevelop Old Trafford or build a new stadium, in addition to the annual bill for new players.

The Qataris are not believed to be concerned by these enormous numbers.

There could be complications for the group, as new owners require Premier League approval and Qatar’s poor human rights record raises doubts.

However, in 2021, Saudi Arabian owners purchased Newcastle, catapulting them into a Champions League contender without apparent concern for human rights.
