Belgium and Netherlands are in the process of merging to create an 18 team dubbed “BeNeLeague”. Belgium clubs voted “unanimously” in favor of the merger. This backing now opens a detailed talk about the concept.
“BeNeLeague” will feature the clubs from the Belgium league and Dutch Eredivisie. This super league will be worth £350m each year in TV rights.
All members of Belgium’s 25 Pro League backed this idea in their General Assembly.
The statement from the clubs said:
“The BeNeLeague must go hand in hand with the guarantee of economic stability for other professional clubs.“That will come through the creation of a national first-division championship on the basis of sustainable licensing and competition rules.”

A £350 million value will make BeNeLeague the sixth-largest league in the world in terms of revenues. Both Eredivisie and Jupiter pro league gross around £70m per season.
Being sixth-largest means that the BeNeLeague will sit behind the top flights in the “Big Five” which includes England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France.
