Mykhaylo Mudryk speaks out on possible Arsenal transfer and sends conditions to Mikel Arteta

Mykhaylo Mudryk speaks out on possible Arsenal transfer and sends conditions to Mikel Arteta

Mykhaylo Mudryk has discussed a possible January transfer to Arsenal and disclosed that he has been closely monitoring the Gunners, however he would require assurances from Mikel Arteta before signing.

The Shakhtar Donetsk winger has been on Arsenal’s radar since the summer, and Ukrainian teammate and captain Oleksandr Zinchenko is thought to have personally recommended him to the club.

However, Arsenal are not the only European giants surrounding Mudryk, especially after his great start to the season, in which he scored three goals and provided two assists in the Champions League while delivering outstanding performances.

Despite North London’s strong start to the season, Arteta wants to add more firepower to his squad by signing a winger. To get Mudryk, Arteta will likely have to pay over £52 million.

Now, the 21-year-old has given a lengthy interview to Zinchenko’s wife, Vlada Sedan, in which he speaks highly of Arsenal and opens the door to a move to the Emirates, but he would like to chat with Arteta about his future role in the squad.

Mudryk responded on Vlada Sedan’s YouTube channel when asked if he has been closely monitoring Arsenal amid transfer rumors.

“Yeah. I check on them on MyScore and know when they’re playing I can check on them.

“I also watch them too. They are a very dynamic side, in general not just in controlling possession but also in scoring goals.”

Mudryk continues when asked if the role available at his prospective new club will influence his decision: “From a purely hypothetical perspective if there was the option of being a bench player for Real Madrid or a starter for Arsenal, I’d probably choose Arsenal.

“But it’s a tough question and involves a lot of factors in my answer.

“I would first want to know from the head coach that even if I wasn’t a guaranteed starter, that I’d receive a chance.

“Essentially I need to hear directly from the manager what he envisages my role in his side to be.”

Asked how he will decide his next club, he added: “The team’s style of play will play a role. It’s very important to me.”

Mudryk also confirmed that the offered job and playing style are more significant to him than the club’s reputation and stature.

The young winger also addressed the summertime interest in him, saying: “I spoke with two or three head coaches either directly or via a translator, they were Nice, Bayer Leverkusen and Brentford. When it didn’t work out I was a bit upset but as we can see now God’s plan is better than my dreams.”
