Mykhailo Mudryk compares Arsenal star to Zinedine Zidane after Gunners’ win over Sevilla
Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk recently drew a comparison between his fellow Ukraine national teammate, Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko, and the iconic Zinedine Zidane of Real Madrid.
Mudryk expressed admiration for Zinchenko in a complimentary comment on the Arsenal player’s Instagram post after their 2-0 triumph over Sevilla in a midweek Champions League clash on November 8.
Manager Mikel Arteta initially fielded Japan’s Takehiro Tomiyasu at left-back, but Zinchenko replaced him at halftime due to a minor injury.
In the second half, Zinchenko exhibited a noteworthy performance, making 44 touches, maintaining an 81% passing accuracy, and registering a shot on target.
Following Arsenal’s success, the former Manchester City left-back posted an image on Instagram showing himself volleying the football, accompanied by a caption. “@championsleague nights are always special.”
Mudryk and the Arsenal defender appear to share a close friendship, often publicly acknowledging each other.
In a recent jest, Zinchenko humorously asserted that he had advised Mudryk against scoring during the London derby between their respective clubs on October 21, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Despite featuring together on the field nine times for Ukraine, they are yet to combine for a goal contribution.
In response to the posted image, Mudryk playfully likened his compatriot to the iconic former French international, commenting:

Zinedine Zidane, after retiring from professional football in 2006, transitioned into a managerial role, continuing his journey in the sport.
During his illustrious playing career, he represented France 108 times, primarily as a midfielder, scoring 31 goals and achieving the pinnacle by winning the World Cup in 1998.
Wearing the colors of Real Madrid, Zidane made 227 appearances in various competitions, showcasing his prowess with 49 goals and 68 assists.
His time with the Spanish giants included winning the La Liga and Champions League trophies, each on one occasion, along with several other accolades.
