Mukesh Ambani spokesperson issues one-word ‘statement’ on potential Liverpool takeover from FSG

The claims that Mukesh Ambani is interested in purchasing Liverpool are false, according to a representative for the Indian tycoon.

The Mirror reported over the weekend that Ambani is interested in acquiring Reds after FSG made the club up for purchase.

In addition to being the current owner of the Indian Premier League cricket franchise Mumbai Indians, Ambani also founded the Indian Super League football division.

Reliance Industries, which has holdings in petrochemicals, oil and gas, telecommunications, and retail, was the source of Ambani’s $90 billion fortune.

A representative for Reliance reportedly told the Indian news outlet ABP Live that Ambani’s interest is “fake.”

Multiple groups, notably Dubai International Capital, have already been connected to a possible takeover of Liverpool.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, founder of INEOS and owner of OGC Nice, as well as the Ricketts family, owners of the Chicago Cubs baseball team who were involved in the bidding process for Chelsea earlier this year, have withdrawn from the competition.

Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who owns the Los Angeles Clippers NBA team, as well as Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment, who own the Philadelphia 76s NBA franchise and a portion of Crystal Palace, and Boston Celtics and Atalanta owner Stephen Pagliuca have also been considered. Middle Eastern interest has also reportedly been mentioned.

FSG have not expressly said that Liverpool are for sale, maintaining that they are seeking investment and new finance for the club. This process began with the hiring of major US banks Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs to manage developments, but it has since been expanded to include those interested in a full takeover of the club, which has been owned by John Henry’s company since 2010 and whose valuation has increased by more than 1,000% from its £300 million purchase price.
