Moyes instructs England manager Gareth Southgate to drop Chelsea star for Arsenal ace if England are to win the World Cup

If England are to win the World Cup, David Moyes, the manager of West Ham, has advised Gareth Southgate to replace a Chelsea star with an Arsenal star.

A number of stars from London rivals West Ham, Arsenal, and Chelsea are participating in the World Cup in Qatar.

The break probably occurred at the worst possible time for league leaders Arsenal. For struggling West Ham and Chelsea, this could be a hidden blessing.

After Harry Kane, West Ham captain Declan Rice is one of the first names on the England teamsheet.

Conor Gallagher, a Chelsea academy graduate who was linked with a move to West Ham in the summer, was one of the unexpected additions to the England squad. However, he has been recruited as a backup for the Hammers’ star player Rice.

Beyond that, Southgate’s selections in other positions on the pitch are always the subject of heated debate.

And a large portion of this discussion centers on Arsenal and Chelsea players. Whether arguing for Gunner Aaron Ramsdale in goal, deciding to leave Reece James at home, or deciding who should play among Ben White, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, and Bukayo Saka.

Under duress, the manager of West Ham believes he has the solution to one of these major decisions.

If England are to win the World Cup, West Ham manager Moyes advised Southgate to replace Chelsea’s Sterling with Arsenal’s Saka.

The Scot informed The Times that Kane and Rice are two of the best at their respective positions in the world. However, he believes Southgate may need to replace Sterling with Saka in order to get the Three Lions roaring again.

What West Ham boss David Moyes said

“I see Harry Kane being as good as any striker, I see Declan Rice being as good as any midfielder in the world,” Moyes told The Times.

“Gareth has players who can go head to head with anyone and have played in the biggest competitions. Yes, England lost form this year but that can happen. I don’t think much has to change for them to be back on track.

“Maybe it’s just a case of finding a little freshness: bringing Bukayo Saka in for Raheem Sterling, a small tweak like that. Gareth has faced ridiculous criticism and is doing exactly the right thing by sticking to the players and principles that have got him to this point.”
