Most valuable academies in world football have been announced
The list of the top 10 most profitable football academies has been published, highlighting the clubs that are earning the most revenue from their young talents.
For football enthusiasts, few things are more enjoyable than witnessing a player from their club’s academy rise to become a key player in the first team.
Almost all clubs have used some form of the ‘he’s one of our own’ chant, which has become particularly linked to Harry Kane in recent times.
The commitment of Manchester United towards their academy is such that for the past 85 years, there has been at least one player who has progressed from it included in every matchday squad.
Manchester United academy has produced many notable graduates, including the famous ‘Class of 92’, and in the recent FA Cup semi-final win against Brighton, Marcus Rashford played a crucial role, with several other academy players also featuring in Erik ten Hag’s squad.
However, when it comes to selling academy players for significant fees, the Premier League club doesn’t have a strong record.
According to statistics, Manchester United’s academy is not among the top 10 most valuable in terms of revenue earned from player sales, whereas three other Premier League clubs – Chelsea, Manchester City, and Arsenal – have better records in this regard.
Nevertheless, all of them are outperformed by one of Europe’s leading exporters of young talent, as per the CIES Observatory.
10. Arsenal – €400 million
9. Flamengo – €438 million
8. Santos – €445 million
7. Sao Paulo – €475 million
6. Paris Saint-Germain – €490 million
5. Manchester City – €510 million
4. Ajax – €555 million
3. Barcelona – €580 million

For instance, Joao Felix was sold for €127 million, and Enzo Fernandez fetched a British record fee just six months after being bought for around €10 million by the club.
