Mohamed Salah named as the best player in the Premier League
Rio Ferdinand has named Mohamed Salah the Premier League’s best player, following his stunning solo goal in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.
The Egyptian forward has had a strong start to the season, scoring six goals in his first seven Premier League games as Liverpool sit atop the table heading into the international break.
The 29-year-old gave Liverpool a 2-1 lead at Anfield on Sunday with a jinking run and ferocious strike, but the Reds were pegged back by a deflected shot from Kevin De Bruyne, resulting in a draw.
Ferdinand believes that there is no better player in the league right now than Salah, and he has praised the impact he has had on the team’s recent success.
“He’s the best player in the Premier League right now. It’s bunning my chest talking like this about a Liverpool player,” he said on Vibe on Five.
“[His goal} was like being on FIFA, that chop, I’ve done that many times on Fifa where you pretend to whip it top corner and then you chop it back. Playground skills.
“Salah is scoring goals that is helping Liverpool win premier League and Champions League titles.”
The former Manchester United center-back praised Liverpool’s second-half improvement in Sunday’s game, calling them a “different animal” after the break.
“What I like about Liverpool was they started terribly, and they reacted at half time, came out a different animal. The first half Liverpool couldn’t get out and City could have had 2 or 3 first half, I think City will be disappointed not to win and Liverpool happy with a draw,” he added.
