‘Miles off’ – Sky Sports pundit believes Conte has one “fundamental problem” at Tottenham

According to Paul Robinson, Tottenham  may have found another Mario Balotelli in midfield outcast and £55 million man Tanguy Ndombele.

Despite impressing in parts under former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho, the Frenchman has failed to show much beyond those glimpses of his talent since joining from Lyon in 2019.

Ndombele is thought to be out of Antonio Conte’s plans at Tottenham, along with fellow outcasts Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon, and Harry Winks, who could all leave this summer.

The 25-year-old spent the second half of 2021/22 away from Premier League football on loan at former club Lyon, but the Ligue 1 giants declined the purchase option included in the deal.

Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson is concerned that Ndombele’s application bears similarities to Mario Balotelli’s, whose application was rejected by the ex-England international.

According to Football Insider, the Sky Sports pundit is concerned that the French midfielder will follow in the footsteps of the former Manchester City striker.

When asked if Ndombele was in danger of becoming the next Balotelli, Robinson explained: “Yes, in a similar way.

“He is a top-quality player, there is no doubt about that. But his attitude and application are miles off.

“I don’t know the ins and outs but it cannot be a coincidence that every Tottenham manager has ousted him. He has been given many opportunities and has not taken any of them.

“There is a fundamental problem with his attitude and application. That is why he is where he is.”

Like Balotelli, who has been embroiled in numerous controversies throughout his nomadic career, there is a risk that Ndombele will not fully realize his vast potential if he does not revive his career in north London.

Robinson is not the first person to question the 25-year-old’s attitude;  Mourinho called him out on it two years ago.

His talent is undeniable, with some players in England’s squad even calling him “unplayable,” according to West Ham star Declan Rice, but it is wasted on the outskirts of any team.

Whoever decides to take a risk and sign Ndombele could end up being a game changer for the player.
