Arsenal’s season has officially begun, with the Gunners sitting atop the Premier League table.

Mikel Arteta’s team has won all three league games so far, the most recent a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.

The incredibly impressive transfer business carried out by technical director Edu may have contributed to the north London club’s quick start.

This summer, Arsenal spent more than £110 million on Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos, and Matt Turner.

However, Arteta is expected to pursue a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Pedro Neto, according to The Athletic.

The 22-year-old is said to be a top target for Arsenal and is seen as a possible replacement for Nicolas Pepe if the Ivorian leaves this summer.

Writing in his weekly column, The Athletic’s David Ornstein stated: “Talks are said to have been taking place for more than a month and central to the dialogue is the intermediary Jorge Mendes, who represents Neto and is closely linked to operations at Molineux.

“Conversations so far have involved Mendes liaising with Arsenal and Wolves separately. While the interest from the Emirates Stadium is concrete and unanimous, their counterparts do not plan to sell the 22-year-old this summer. Neto extended his contract in March, committing him until 2027.”

Of course, whether Neto moves to the Emirates Stadium remains to be seen. Pepe’s departure this summer appears to be pivotal, with the 27-year-old linked with a loan move to Ligue 1 side Nice.

It will also depend on Wolves agreeing to sell one of their key players, with reports claiming that the West Midlands club has set a £50 million asking price for Neto.

But, if the Portuguese international does join Arsenal, does he have a place in Arteta’s starting XI? Here’s how Arsenal might line up this season with Neto in the lineup:

GK: Aaron Ramsdale

RB: Ben White

CB: William Saliba

CB: Gabriel

LB: Oleksandr Zinchenko

RCM: Thomas Partey

LCM: Granit Xhaka

RW: Bukayo Saka

CAM: Martin Odegaard

LW: Pedro Neto

ST: Gabriel Jesus
