Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal dream starting XI if Fabio Vieira completes summer transfer
Although the summer transfer window has only been open for a week, Arsenal has already made several additions.
The Gunners announced earlier this week that Brazilian wonderkid Marquinhos had arrived from Sao Paulo, while Matt Turner’s agreed signing from the New England Revolution is set to be finalised in the coming weeks.
Arsenal appears to be closing in on another acquisition after reaching an agreement with Porto to sign attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira.
The Portuguese club stated that the 22-year-old will go to London in a deal worth a total of £34 million, including a potential £5 million in bonuses.
Vieira is mostly an attacking midfielder, but he can also play as a ten, an offensive no. 8 in a midfield three, and on either side.
In some ways, the left-footed maestro is comparable to fellow Portuguese star Bernardo Silva in that both can drive with the ball at their feet and unlock defences with exquisite passes while never shying away from defensive duties.
If Portugal Under-21 coach Rui Jorge is correct, Arsenal will be getting a very promising talent if they sign Vieira. Last year, when asked about Vieira, Jorge said:
“Fabio had a good game.
“He is a very technically advanced player, he is good at defining, but he needs to improve some aspects of his game in order to become a full-fledged player. He knows this and will work on these aspects. Fabio has a great future if he sees fit. I think he wants to be the player he can be. I believe that we can meet a great player.”
Last season, the teenage playmaker scored seven goals and produced a stunning 16 assists across all competitions, which will be music to Arsenal fans’ ears. Despite his versatility, Vieira is more likely to play as a central midfielder in Mikel Arteta’s preferred 4-3-3 formation.
With that in mind, how might Arsenal look at the start of the 2022/23 season with Vieira in Arteta’s starting XI?
