Mikel Arteta hits back at Ashley Young after Aston Villa superstar blasted Arsenal for ‘celebrating like they won the league’
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta responded to Ashley Young’s criticism by stating it’s “wonderful” when his team celebrates.
Young criticized Arsenal after their 1-0 win over Aston Villa last month, saying they celebrated too much.
“You saw the way they celebrated, to be honest it was like they won the league. But it shows they found it tough.”
But, Arteta has since hit back at the former England defender and praised his players for celebrating.
He said: “I don’t tell the players to celebrate or not.
“It’s something that comes from them.
“When I see them hugging each other, celebrating with the fans, for me it’s great. They have to celebrate, of course.”
The Gunners are on course to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2016.
After a shaky start to the season, Arteta’s men have substantially improved and are now fourth in the Premier League table.
However, they have a difficult schedule until the end of the season, with games against Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham.
Arsenal’s next game is at Selhurst Park, where they will face a tough Crystal Palace side.
