Mikel Arteta handed double title race fitness boost ahead of Arsenal vs Crystal Palace
Arsenal received positive news regarding the fitness of Leandro Trossard and Oleksandr Zinchenko, which will likely benefit them in their upcoming game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
A victory for the Gunners could result in an eight-point lead in the Premier League, while Palace, who will be without former Arsenal player Patrick Vieira on the sidelines, are currently only three points away from the relegation zone after losing 1-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ahead of the upcoming match at the Emirates, Mikel Arteta has several fitness concerns following Arsenal’s Europa League exit to Sporting CP on Thursday.
During the game, Takehiro Tomiyasu and William Saliba both sustained injuries in the first half. Tomiyasu left on crutches, while Saliba is yet to be assessed.
However, Leandro Trossard and Oleksandr Zinchenko are both expected to be fit for the game, despite concerns over their fitness during Thursday’s match.
Trossard was seen moving cautiously, while Zinchenko was spotted holding his hamstring towards the end of the game.
Fortunately for Arsenal, it seems that both Leandro Trossard and Oleksandr Zinchenko avoided injury, as reported by Ryan Taylor of the Daily Express.
Taylor suggests that both players are expected to be fit for the upcoming game, and that Zinchenko’s issue was likely just cramp.
Additionally, Taylor notes that Gabriel Jesus’ substitution at halftime was planned beforehand, indicating that he may be in contention to start in the Premier League for the first time since November prior to the World Cup break.
Gabriel Jesus substitution at HT very much pre-planned as suggested last night. Leandro Trossard (spotted limping) & Oleksandr Zinchenko (spotted holding hamstring but more likely cramp) seem to have come through unscathed. #AFC
