Mikel Arteta and Arsenal handed a boost in their pursuit of Serge Gnabry after what has happened in Spain

Arsenal’s pursuit of a move reunion with Serge Gnabry has received a significant boost.

This comes after a crucial rival for the German’s signature allegedly dropped out of the contest.

According to the German news agency BILD, Real Madrid is also looking at signing Gnabry this summer after Mbappe elected to stay at PSG.

However, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio recently rejected Real Madrid’s interest, stating that the club’s priority is to recruit Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco.

This is a huge win for Arsenal because it eliminates a formidable rival for Gnabry’s signature.

The club will need a winger in the summer, and the German would be an excellent addition.

The German would be a great late-season addition, since his versatility might be crucial for Mikel Arteta.

Gnabry clearly has unfinished business, as evidenced by his comment that he is “Always a Gunner” when asked about a possible transfer.

According to the CIES football observatory, he will cost roughly £60 million, which is a transaction that might be well worth it.

Earlier this season, Bild reported that Gnabry and his representatives are wanting £12.5 million per year in wages in order to sign a new contract.

However, Bayern has yet to agree to these terms, putting the talks on hold.

Following this, German news outlet Sport1 claimed that Gnabry’s desire to quit Bayern is motivated by more than just money.

The player desires to feel significant in the team and prefers to play in a more centre position rather than on the wing.

Arsenal might potentially wait until next season to sign him on a free transfer. Because of the calibre of the winger, this would undoubtedly go down as one of the best free-agent coups.

However, waiting for this opportunity would be risky for the Gunners, as other clubs would almost certainly express interest in the winger.

The German winger still has a lot of respect for Arsenal, as evidenced by a tweet declaring that London is Arsenal’s after Gnabry’s Bayern Munich team defeated Tottenham in the Champions League 7-2 in 2019.

He has also been photographed wearing Arsenal shirts on numerous occasions recently, demonstrating his love to the team.

Gnabry left Arsenal in 2016 to join Werder Bremen after failing to agree on a new deal during Arsene Wenger’s tenure as manager.

Since leaving the Premier League, he has won the Champions League and many German league titles with Bayern Munich.

If Arsenal were able to sign Gnabry, it would undoubtedly be a statement signing. The Gunners are more confident in securing his contract now that Real Madrid appears to have dropped out of the contest.
