‘Medical on Wednesday’: Journalist reveals Arsenal will announce 27-year-old this week
Ryan Taylor, an Express journalist, has been discussing Matt Turner and his imminent move to Arsenal on his YouTube channel.
The New England Revolution claimed in February that they had agreed to trade the goalkeeper to Arsenal this summer, but we have yet to hear anything from the Gunners regarding this agreement. At least, not formally.
Turner has spoken out about the transfer, but Arsenal has been silent for some reason.
That appears to be about to change.
According to Taylor, the goalie will have a medical on Wednesday before an official announcement later this week.
“I don’t know when this video will go up, but I was told that within the next 24 hours Arsenal are hoping to announce the signing of Fabio Vieira from Porto, New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner will also be having his medical on Wednesday. He will officially join on July 1st and that will be officially confirmed later in the week,” Taylor said.
We’ve known for months that this move was imminent, but it appears that we’ll finally get official confirmation this week.
Turner’s arrival might have a significant impact on the Premier League. Fulham’s interest in Bernd Leno may have increased since the German may be reduced to third-choice at the Emirates, while Aaron Ramsdale will be looking over his shoulder after a disappointing season and a terrible performance for England against Hungary.
Arsenal have already announced the signing of Fabio Vieira, and Turner appears to be their second official summer signing.
