Mason Greenwood being investigated by cops over ‘designer gear for alleged sex victim while on bail’
The police are investigating allegations that Mason Greenwood purchased fashionable clothing for his alleged sexual partner.
According to The Sun, the Manchester United player, who is charged with attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior, purchased £86 worth of clothing from online fashion firm Luxe To Kill and had them shipped to the woman’s residence last week.
The Sun stated Greater Manchester Police is investigating reports that the purported purchase may represent a violation of the 21-year-old’s release conditions. The Sun on Sunday was informed by a source that Greenwood had not placed the order.
Greenwood has not replied to the breach claims.
It follows allegations that Greenwood violated the terms of his bail last month after allegedly being sighted in his car with the victim, who is scheduled to testify at the player’s trial next year.
Greenwood made his last public appearance in Manchester Crown Court last week for a pre-trial hearing that will commence on November 27, 2023.
Following his arrest in January and the dissemination of photographs and audio on social media, the United player remains suspended from the club. Additionally, he was questioned by authorities for death threats.
In violation of his bail conditions, he was re-arrested last month when he was photographed with the alleged victim. After appearing in Manchester magistrates court on October 17, he was held in custody but was released two days later following a private bail hearing.
The attempted rape is alleged to have occurred in October 2021, whereas his controlling and coercive behavior charges relate to a period between November 2018 and October of this year, during which he allegedly made threatening and derogatory comments toward the complainant, as well as accessed and monitored her social media accounts.
The charge of assault resulting in bodily injury pertains to an alleged offense that occurred in December 2021.
