Mason Greenwood added in Manchester United’s latest Premier League squad list
Mason Greenwood has been added to Manchester United’s latest Premier League squad list following the dismissal of all charges against the 21-year-old.
Thursday, February 2, Greater Manchester Police announced that criminal proceedings against the footballer have been dropped.
The forward was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault, all of which involved the same woman.
United confirmed in a statement that the club would conduct an internal investigation to “determine next steps,” while Greenwood issued a statement later that day.
Since then, the player has been added to the updated Premier League squad list for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
Following the close of the January transfer window, Premier League clubs are required to submit their updated squad lists.
Greenwood’s final game for United occurred on January 22 of last year against West Ham. A week later, on January 30, the football player was arrested, and the club has since suspended him.
Since making his debut with the first team in 2019, the striker has scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for the club and contributed 12 assists.
The club confirmed on Thursday that United will now conduct their own investigation, and Greenwood will remain suspended from training and matches until it is complete.
A United spokesman said: “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped.
“The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.”
Greenwood also released a short statement, which read: “I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support.
“There will be no further comment at this time.”
