They are three points behind Group E leaders Real Sociedad after the Spaniards defeated Sheriff Tiraspol 3-0.

Now the focus returns to the Premier League, where Ten Hag’s men have had an up-and-down season thus far.

And, after seeing his team waste over 30 chances against Omonia on Thursday, he knows his players must be sharper if they are to get past the top-joint-best flight’s defense when they face Newcastle this Sunday.

Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial’s season has been further disrupted after sustaining yet another injury during Sunday’s 2-1 win over Everton, with the Frenchman picking up a new knock.

This is his third separate injury this season, having been forced off within an hour of being named to the starting lineup at Goodison Park.

However, depending on the severity of the injury, Martial may be able to play this weekend.

Ten Hag stated during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, ahead of Omonia’s visit: “Not [training] today, we will see before Sunday.”

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire is still out with a hamstring injury suffered in England’s 3-3 draw with Germany last month while on international duty with The Three Lions.

Although Maguire has already missed United’s last four games in all competitions, it was initially reported that he would be out for up to two weeks.

Raphael Varane’s return to action gives some hope that Maguire will return soon, but Ten Hag previously stated that Maguire will “take a little bit longer” than his teammate.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Maguire had been training in Portugal at the Quinta do Lago resort last week to aid his recovery, before returning in time to watch United beat Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Donny van de Beek

Donny van de Beek’s Manchester United career has taken another turn for the worse recently, with Ten Hag confirming that he is expected to be out for another two weeks.

The Dutchman has missed United’s last seven games in all competitions due to a knock that has turned out to be more serious than expected, and is not expected to return until October 22 when the Red Devils face Chelsea.

Speaking on October 7, Ten Hag said: “He had a muscle injury, and so it takes him a couple of weeks. He’s back on the training grass, so he’s outside, doing his work, but still individual. So, we have to wait for that moment.”

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Back in second place Aaron Wan-Bissaka has played just four minutes this season after falling out of favor with Ten Hag since his arrival in the summer, with a recent injury compounding his problems.

The nature of his injury is unknown, but he is expected to be sidelined for an extended period of time, with Ten Hag confirming that he will miss United’s upcoming games due to a “longer-term” issue.

Speaking on Wednesday, ahead of United’s Europa League tie with Omonia, Ten Hag said: “Not today [Martial training], we will see how it develops for Sunday. Harry is out. And longer-term Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.”
