Marcus Rashford reveals Erik ten Hag’s standout trait as Manchester United manager
According to Marcus Rashford, Manchester United’s recent success can be attributed to their manager Erik ten Hag’s emphasis on keeping a clean sheet.
The team has achieved 18 clean sheets in all competitions this season, including 10 in the Premier League, which is second only to Newcastle United’s 12.
Ten Hag’s high expectations and focus on defensive excellence have played a crucial role in United’s resurgence this season, filling a void that had been present at the club for some time.
As they prepare to face Barcelona in the second leg of their Europa League tie, United’s strong defensive foundation is expected to continue to be a key factor in their success.
Rashford, who scored two goals in the recent game against Leicester City, has praised Erik ten Hag for his high standards and continuous demands for improvement.
In an interview with teammate Brandon Williams, Rashford spoke about how the manager has raised the bar for the team this season, highlighting his strong work ethic and comprehensive approach to coaching.
“I would say his determination,” Rashford told Stadium Astro, addressing Ten Hag’s greatest attribute as a manager. “I think Brandon mentioned before that he doesn’t rest on anything; if we are 3-0 up in a game or 2-0 up, if we concede a goal we know he is not going to be happy about it.
“It starts to spread because now, all of a sudden, even for me and the forward lads, we are desperate for David and the defensive lads to keep a clean sheet. If we are winning 1-0, yes, it is massively important. If we are winning 4-0, in the past it was less important if the other team scored a goal.
“Whereas now we are constantly striving to be the best that we can be and us, when at our best, we don’t concede goals.”
