Manchester United’s next transfer options following Antony and Martin Dubravka

Manchester United  is close to completing a two-player deal for Antony and Martin Dubravka.

According to BBC Sport, Dubravka’s loan move is imminent, and Antony is undergoing a medical to complete his permanent move from Ajax.

The pair will become United’s fifth and sixth summer additions, and the future is uncertain.

United may be finished in the market by the time the deadline passes, but there is still time and a need for at least one more surprise.

There are still three positions Manchester United would like to fill, but there is virtually no money left to spend after the Antony fee, according to The Telegraph.

United reportedly desires a striker, a right back, and an additional midfielder. Certainly none of the three will arrive at this late stage.

Of these three options, an additional midfielder appears the least likely. Targets would be expensive.

Youri Tielemans, at £25 million, and Celtic’s Matt O’Riley, linked by ESPN with a £15 million move, are the only affordable options.

United will likely revisit this position in January or the summer of next year.

Right back is also unlikely. United would be required to sell or loan out Aaron Wan-Bissaka and acquire a replacement.

However, now that Diogo Dalot is the first-choice center back, there is likely neither a good backup option nor a club willing to pay a fee for Wan-Bissaka; only loan inquiries have been proposed.

The names Sergio Dest of Barcelona and Thomas Meunier of Dortmund were mentioned by The Telegraph.

The only position where United could possibly make a difference is striker. This is entirely dependent on Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Sun has reported that Cristiano Ronaldo is in talks with Napoli, while Victor Osimhen is rumored to be moving in the opposite direction.

This would still cost United a substantial fee, and would only work if it was a loan agreement with an option to purchase in the future.

Cody Gakpo is also linked. He is not a “striker,” but he can fill in up front and play all forward positions.

According to The Independent, he is only a target if Ronaldo leaves. The removal of Ronaldo’s salary from United’s books would free up additional funds.

There is also the possibility of re-signing Memphis Depay from Barcelona, who has been permitted to leave the La Liga club.
