According to Richard Keys, including Wout Weghorst in the team is like playing with ten men for Manchester United.
Weghorst was brought in on loan by Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag in the January transfer window to strengthen the team’s attacking options after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure.
However, Weghorst’s contributions have been minimal so far, and he has yet to score a goal in the Premier League for Manchester United.
Weghorst played the entirety of Manchester United’s 3-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday, but Keys believes he is a liability for the Red Devils.
The veteran anchor believes Manchester United are effectively playing with ten men when Weghorst is on the field.
“You’re playing with ten most weeks if he’s in”, Keys said of Weghorst on beIN SPORTS.
“I mean, he doesn’t do enough to justify a starting place does he?
“Come on, let’s be honest.”
Manchester United are facing two crucial games in the near future, starting with the second leg of their Europa League tie against Barcelona on Thursday night at Old Trafford.
This will be followed by the EFL Cup final against Newcastle United next weekend. It is uncertain whether Weghorst will be included in the starting lineup for either game.
