Fiorentina’s midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat, has expressed his strong ambition to eventually play in the Premier League, amidst reported interest from Manchester United.

As Manchester United actively pursue their recruitment plans, they have identified England captain Harry Kane and Mason Mount as their primary targets, with manager Erik ten Hag aiming to secure at least two significant signings. However, they are also keeping an eye on other prospects such as Bart Verbruggen and Rasmus Hojlund.

Naturally, there are various factors that Erik ten Hag and his recruitment team need to consider, including the interest from other clubs in certain players.

One such player is Sofyan Amrabat, who has garnered attention through his impressive performances for both his club and national team throughout this season.

Amrabat’s reputation soared even higher after he played a key role in helping Morocco become the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Additionally, his success continued as Fiorentina advanced to the final of the Europa Conference League. Consequently, Amrabat received significant media coverage, which could potentially entice interested clubs to pursue a transfer.

Amrabat has attracted considerable interest from various clubs, with Barcelona, PSG, and Liverpool reportedly monitoring his progress before the transfer market reopens. However, the specific sources of these reports may vary.

Manchester United has also been consistently linked with Amrabat as they aim to bolster their midfield options by signing another high-caliber midfielder during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Sofyan’s brother Nordin told Voetbal Primeur earlier this year that a move to United fell through in January: “I can name three clubs who were concrete in the last two or three days of the transfer window,” he said.

“Manchester United wanted a loan with an option to buy deal, Fiorentina rejected.” And the midfielder might just have flashed them – or others from the Premier League and beyond – a green light to try again for his signature this summer.

Speaking about his future before meeting West Ham on Wednesday night, Amrabat said: “Of course, the Premier League is a fantastic league and one of the strongest in the world. It would be nice to play there, one day, but it’s not that I want only to go to England, because Spain is nice, Serie A is a nice league.

“Football has changed a lot, it’s more physical. You have to be an athlete, the tempo and intensity is higher.

“Of course, in England the intensity is very high. I think it could suit me.”

Amrabat, or any player with a similar profile, may face a significant obstacle in the form of Casemiro if they were to join Manchester United. Casemiro, the Brazilian powerhouse, currently holds a prominent role in United’s lineup.

However, it is possible that United might consider signing a player who could initially play alongside Casemiro and eventually succeed him in the team, if they believe it is the right time to do so.
