Manchester United put blank cheque on the table to sign £330,000-a-week star – Report
Manchester United have long been interested in attracting Ousmane Dembele, and the Frenchman is once again in the spotlight.
The Red Devils held talks with the Les Bleus playmaker from Barcelona during the winter transfer window, on deadline day.
The Spanish club demanded a fee of 20 million euros, and the agreement fell through (Sport).
The former Rennes star’s contract at the Nou Camp expires on June 30th, and the Old Trafford club are keen to grab his signature.
Erik ten Hag, according to Catalan outlet Nacional, wants Dembele to join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho in the attack next season.
Man United have made touch with the player’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, and have offered a blank cheque to secure his signature.
However, the 25-year-old star is unconvinced by the offer because the Red Devils will not compete in the UEFA Champions League this season.
On the other hand, it is reported that he is considering returning to France to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, who are willing to pay him far more than his present wage of £330,000 per week (ABC).
The 27-cap international shone for Borussia Dortmund during his one season in Germany, but he has been plagued by injuries since transferring to Spain.
Dembele was injured for the first half of the season last season and had issues with the Barcelona management. When he was fit, he excelled under Xavi’s tutelage.
The World Champion, who can play several offensive positions, appeared in 21 league games (15 starts) and provided 13 assists to help Barcelona qualify for the Champions League.
