Manchester United player makes ‘beautiful’ Ronaldo confession
Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani has heaped praise on teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, implying to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he should play up front alongside the Portuguese captain.
Cavani joined Manchester United on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the summer of 2020. Cavani made only 13 Premier League starts in his debut season with the Red Devils due to injury, while he also made 13 substitute appearances.
By agreeing to stay at Manchester United for another season, the Uruguayan would have expected to start more frequently in the current season.
Cavani, on the other hand, has been relegated to the bench since the arrival of Ronaldo. Cavani has only started twice in his eight competitive appearances in the 2021-22 season, and he has yet to play the full 90 minutes in a game.
Cavani, on the other hand, is awestruck by his superstar teammate and has nothing but admiration for him.
“It’s a pleasure not only for the fact that he’s a football star but also for the fact that I see the way he has to handle the brilliance of that star that he has forged in his career.
“And to see the way he faces each training day by day is a sincere pleasure. He is one of the great players that I have played with and that arouses admiration in me,” Cavani was quoted by ESPN, as saying in a recent interview.
While Cavani has only scored once in eight games this season, Ronaldo has scored nine times in 13 games for the Red Devils.
“You enjoy it and try to learn, follow him in things that you may think are perfect, and I try to enjoy it in the sense that football sometimes allows you to hang out with stars but does not let you enjoy them for different reasons,” added Cavani.
The players are on a two-week international break before returning to their respective clubs for the busy winter months.
Manchester United are currently sixth in the table, and Solskjaer is under immense pressure following a string of recent poor results. Following the international break, they will travel to Watford in the Premier League on November 20.
Cavani, on the other hand, hopes that Solskjaer pairs him and Ronaldo on the field for a positive outcome.
“The important thing in the team is to complement each other, they have already seen us together and I think that beautiful and positive things have come out.” The 34-year-old Cavani said further in the same interview.
“I’ve always said that the pitch is the one that speaks and one must be there to give the best, train every day to be 100 per cent. Hopefully, we can continue to share moments on the pitch and give victories to the fans of our team, Manchester United,”
Cavani, on the other hand, is undergoing treatment for a tendon problem, which caused him to miss the Red Devils’ previous home game against Manchester City. Solskjaer’s team lost the game 2-0, their fourth defeat of the Premier League season.
