Manchester United midfielder rejects Premier League move with hours of the window remaining
Manchester United‘s midfielder, Scott McTominay, appears poised to stay at Old Trafford this summer. This decision comes to light after Fulham made a last-minute effort to acquire the Scottish midfielder.
This development follows the apparent breakdown of the deal to transfer Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich. The reason for this setback is the failure of the West London club to secure a replacement for the Portuguese midfielder.
Reports suggest that Fulham expressed interest in McTominay, but Manchester United demanded a substantial transfer fee for the 25-year-old.
Now, it appears that McTominay will continue to be a part of the Old Trafford squad, with Erik Ten Hag reportedly valuing his ‘unique skillset,’ as reported by The Athletic.
According to Fabrizio Romano’s X account, it has been confirmed that Scott McTominay did indeed receive an offer from Fulham. However, issues on the player’s side have led to the midfielder not making a move to the West London club.
In the current season, McTominay has yet to start a game for Manchester United, with most of his appearances coming as a substitute. The imminent signing of Sofyan Amrabat is expected to further limit McTominay’s playing time.
Interestingly, it’s worth noting that Manchester United previously rejected a £30 million offer from West Ham for McTominay, as reported by the Manchester Evening News. This decision to retain him may have turned out to be a missed opportunity for United.
