Manchester United ‘make approach for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’ as they look to hijack Chelsea deal

Manchester United are set to make a bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in order to beat Chelsea to  Barcelona striker’s signature.

United are hopeful of bringing in the 33-year-old, according to transfer expert  Gianluca Di Marzio.

Chelsea has been in talks about signing Aubameyang, but the transfer has been difficult to complete.

Aubameyang could be allowed to leave Barcelona, which recently signed Robert Lewandowski.

Due to the Catalan club’s financial difficulties, Aubameyang may be allowed to leave despite having only joined the club in February.

Aubameyang has scored 13 goals in 24 appearances for Barcelona.

The prospect of Aubameyang returning to the Premier League, where he spent four years with Arsenal, is intriguing, but it is unclear where he will end up.

United manager Erik ten Hag is eager to bolster his squad before the transfer deadline.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is uncertain, and while he has Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford to call on, ten Hag wants to add another option up front.

United have signed Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, and Tyrell Malacia so far this summer.

United are still interested in signing Antony, but a new £76 million bid for the Ajax winger has been rejected.

Marco Asensio of Real Madrid has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
