Sir Alex Ferguson has identified two managers who have dropped in the Premier League relegation as the current crop who have awed him most.

There isn’t many, apparently any, more skilled managers in the history of the Premier League than Ferguson, who won 13 league title with Manchester United.

His brilliance has only been made more clear with United’s strains since his departure in 2013, with the Old Trafford side only achieving two top two finishes since.

A new crop of managers has come through in the eight years since Fergie hung up his chewing gum and he has identified two who have struck him recently.

“On young managers, Eddie Howe had a great period at Bournemouth, for a young manager,” the former Aberdeen boss told SPORTbible in an exclusive interview.

“I think he did very well. Even though he’s relegated it doesn’t mean to say he’s not a good manager, I think he is a good manager.

“I think the boy [Scott] Parker at Fulham has done a great job. I’ve watched them a lot and they keep playing their football.

“They don’t change and don’t panic. They stick with the beliefs of their manager and I think that’s a great indication of how good he is.”

Howe led Bournemouth from League Two into the Premier League and managed to put them in the top tier for five seasons.

His side experienced relegation back to the Championship last season and he left the club and hasn’t taken another job since.

The 43-year-old has been associated with the vacancy at Celtic recently and looks set to move north of the border soon.

Parker took command at Fulham, his first managerial position, in February 2019 but wasn’t able to keep the west London side in the Premier League.

He gained promotion at the first time of asking, via the play-offs, but more squad change hasn’t served him keep the team he earlier played for in the top tier.

The 40-year-old has been associated with another of his former clubs, with the ex England international being debated about for the Tottenham Hotspur job.

Notwithstanding most people considering Fergie was a great manager, Fabio Capello has disputed the Scots coaching skills.

The former Rangers forward did expose that it’s another former Gers player that he hoped he could have managed, in Paul Gascoigne.

The former England international had the option to move to Manchester or London, with Spurs, and chose to go further south.
