Manchester United handed revenge mission against Sevilla in Europa League quarterfinals

Sevilla will be the opponents for Manchester United in the quarterfinals of the Europa League.

The Red Devils advanced to this stage by winning against Real Betis in the previous round, with Marcus Rashford scoring a spectacular goal.

In the first leg, United had already done the difficult part by winning 4-1 at their home stadium, thanks to goals from Rashford, Antony, Bruno Fernandes, and Wout Weghorst.

This gave Erik ten Hag’s team a comfortable lead heading into the match at the Benito Villamarín Stadium.

Sevilla, who have won the Europa League a record six times, secured their spot in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 aggregate victory over Fenerbahce.

They are a formidable opponent in this tournament and have a history of eliminating Manchester United.

They knocked out United during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure as manager and had previously eliminated Jose Mourinho’s team from the Champions League. Therefore, there is a desire for revenge within the United camp.

Manchester United has traditionally struggled against Spanish teams in European competitions, but under the leadership of Erik ten Hag, they have already defeated three La Liga sides this season.

Having already won the Carabao Cup last month, United will be looking to continue their success as they face Sevilla in the quarterfinals of the Europa League.

The first leg of the tie will be played at Old Trafford on April 13th, with the second leg taking place at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on April 20th. In another fixture, Juventus will take on Sporting Lisbon, and the winner of that match will face the winner of the United/Sevilla encounter.
