Manchester United halt training session following Anthony Martial’s bust-up with teammate
According to the Mirror, Manchester United forward Anthony Martial was involved in an altercation with young teammate Dan Gore.
The Red Devils held a training session with players who were not chosen for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Martial, 26, took part in the session and got into a scrap with 18-year-old Gore, who was signed from Burnley last summer.
Manager Erik ten Hag drafted several U18s into the squad for training to make up the numbers.
The English teenager slammed into the Frenchman with a powerful tackle, infuriating the former AS Monaco forward.
Ten Hag was forced to call a halt to the training session because the pair were involved in a brawl.
Martial is said to have lashed out and caught the teenager, who is said to have stood his ground against the 26-year-old striker who was snubbed by France manager Didier Deschamps for the World Cup.
The pair were separated, with ten Hag and his staff informing Gore that tackling first-team stars was not permitted in training games.
Martial is said to have apologized to the child, and Gore was happy to make amends.
According to United insiders, it was the type of flashpoint that is common at a top-flight club where the pressure to impress is intense.
Gore, who United’s website describes as a “tenacious tackler,” returned to the session. Ten Hag and United’s academy staff both think highly of him. The manager of Manchester United has encouraged a competitive atmosphere in training.
