Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag tipped to be first manager to be sacked following Brentford humiliation

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag’s chances of being fired have been reduced after Brentford scored four goals in the first half on Saturday.

The Bees took the lead after only 10 minutes thanks to a howler from David de Gea, who let the ball slip through his palms.

De Gea made another error nine minutes later, cutting Christian Eriksen off with a pass, allowing Mathias Jensen to nip in and double the lead.

Ben Mee bundled the ball home at the far post from a corner within half an hour, easily beating centre-back Lisandro Martinez in the air despite losing his balance in the process.

Five minutes later, Ivan Toney set up Bryan Mbeumo to finish past De Gea, confirming United’s worst-ever half-time scoreline and leaving them facing a record away Premier League defeat.

Ten Hag was 33/1 to be the first manager sacked at the start of the season, but after losing to Brighton last week and seeing a first-half thrashing drop United to the bottom of the table, he is now 13/2 to be fired.
