Manchester United ace told he possesses one rare quality ‘managers dream of’
Mikael Silvestre, a former centre-back for Manchester United, has acknowledged that Jadon Sancho is a dream player for most managers to work with.
However, he expressed uncertainty about Sancho’s optimal position.
The winger was signed by United from Borussia Dortmund, a top German team, in July 2021, with the intention of addressing United’s long-standing right-wing problems.
Despite this, Sancho has struggled to meet expectations at Old Trafford, scoring only ten goals and providing four assists in 63 appearances.
Just over a year after his arrival, Erik ten Hag recruited Antony for the same position, commanding an even greater fee.
In all fairness, Sancho has played his best football for United on the left wing, but he has recently occupied a central attacking midfield position.
He has shown glimpses of his potential in that position, but it is believed that he is at his best when playing on the wing.
Despite facing challenges securing a consistent spot at United since joining nearly two years ago, Silvestre, who was a Manchester United player from 1999 to 2008, is confident that Sancho possesses a variety of skills that can benefit United.
“Sancho can play three positions up front,” said Silvestre. “That’s a real bonus for him and the manager.
“To be honest, it’s hard to say what’s his best position. I believe has those qualities that he can surprise you on either flank or up top.
“I don’t think we need to put him in one box. He’s a real modern forward that a lot of managers dream of.”
Sancho, who took some time off during the World Cup break at the end of last year to work with coaches suggested by Ten Hag while in the Netherlands, has contributed five goals and one assist in 26 games this season.
Following an extended absence, he has returned to the squad and scored two goals since the beginning of last month.
