Manchester City’s Senior Players Introduce New Parking Rule to Keep Squad Grounded

Manchester City‘s senior players have reportedly established a new, strict car parking rule for all members of the first-team squad.

The team is in pursuit of an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title this season, currently just one point behind leaders Arsenal with a game in hand.

Pep Guardiola’s side is well-positioned to achieve this remarkable feat, thanks to his implementation of strict rules and high standards in the pursuit of football perfection at the Etihad.

According to The Daily Mail, Guardiola’s five-man leadership group in the first-team squad has introduced a new rule to help keep younger, less experienced players grounded.

Senior players have been the driving force behind this new rule change

Kyle Walker, Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Rodri, and Bernardo Silva are reported to have been the driving force behind this new rule change regarding the car park at City’s training ground.

Under the new system, there is a more ‘regimented’ allocation of parking spots for players based on their status and longevity at the club.

“Everybody has their own numbered bay these days and the likes of Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes, and Jeremy Doku are further away from the entrance than those who have been with the club throughout the successes under Guardiola,” read the report.

Although it is unclear why the senior players have chosen to implement this rule at this stage of the season, it is worth noting that it is a rule that hasn’t been previously used at City.

However, this move is not unprecedented in the Premier League, as other clubs have adopted strict rules around cars and parking, particularly with younger players.

For instance, Liverpool requires their youngsters to sign an unusual car clause in contracts, banning them from driving vehicles with an engine exceeding 1.3 liters in an effort to keep them grounded early in their careers.

Similarly, at Manchester United, youngster Kobbie Mainoo reportedly continues to use the main car park at Carrington rather than parking his car in the first-team one, so as not to get carried away with his success.
