According to a new report, the parent company of Manchester City is planning their next major redevelopment project for one of the clubs in their vast global portfolio of football organizations.

This club is New York City FC, which is owned by the City Football Group in the majority.

Currently, NYCFC plays the majority of its home games at the iconic Yankee Stadium, which is also the home of the New York Yankees, a minority owner.

Throughout the club’s nine-year history, numerous legendary football players have donned the Sky Blue team’s jersey.

On 2 June 2014, David Villa, the all-time goalscoring leader for Spain, became NYCFC’s first-ever signing and captain, followed by Chelsea legend and former Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard.

A year later, midfielder and FIFA World Cup champion Andrea Pirlo became the third Designated Player in Club history.

Now, it appears that one of the crown jewels of the City Football Group project will have a brand new stadium to show off to prospective new players and their entire fan base.

The New York Times reports that New York City officials have reached an agreement to construct the city’s first professional football stadium.

The New York City Football Club’s 25,000-seat stadium is expected to be completed in the Willets Point neighborhood of Queens by 2027.

It is revealed that the NYCFC stadium will be the centerpiece of a 23-acre project that will include a 250-room hotel and 2,500 residential units.

As for who will fund the project, the New York Times reports that the City Football Group-owned club will pay for the entire $780 million construction of the stadium.

Manchester City’s owners are heavily involved in multiple redevelopment projects, including the upcoming new home of New York City.

Closer to home, supporters of Pep Guardiola’s squad who have attended any home games in recent months will have noticed the construction of a new stadium adjacent to the Etihad Stadium.

This will be known as the Co-op Live and is scheduled to open in 2023. It will have the largest capacity of any indoor arena in the United Kingdom.

The estimated cost of the project in 2022 is £365 million.

Developers intend to include up to 32 bars, a number of restaurants, and nightclubs in the complex, which will likely compete directly with the AO Arena in the city center.
