Manchester City man reveals his intentions to retire at the club

Riyad Mahrez has indicated that he intends to complete his professional career with Manchester City.

This follows the 31-year- old’s signing of a new contract at the Etihad Stadium in July, which will keep him with the club until 2025.

Since joining the club from Leicester City in 2018, the Algerian international has been a crucial member of Pep Guardiola’s squad and has appeared in 198 games for City in all competitions.

Since joining the club four years ago, Mahrez has produced 63 goals and 46 assists, and the team has won three Premier Leagues, one FA Cup, and three League Cups.

The 31-year- old’s desire to remain in Manchester is unsurprising given the likelihood that this success will continue in the near future.

What Mahrez has said about retiring at Manchester City

“I definitely want to finish my career at City and play as long as I can. I think I can still play for a long time. We’ll see what the future holds after football,” Mahrez told Man City via Onefootball.

After expressing that he intends to play for many more years, the winger went on to reveal that he has no idea what he would do when his career is over. The Manchester City star stated:

“I don’t know. I’m still thinking. I love football so it’ll be difficult to come out of it.”
