Goalkeeper: David De Gea
Throughout the season, there have been rumors that Manchester United may seek to replace their goalkeeper David De Gea. Despite his impressive goalkeeping skills, he is not known for his ability to play out from the back. Nevertheless, United are currently negotiating a new contract with De Gea, indicating that he is likely to remain with the club.
However, it is also a possibility that Dean Henderson will be given a real opportunity to become the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. If he is not given this chance, the Englishman may not be willing to remain at Old Trafford as a backup, as he made clear earlier in the season.
Defence: Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw
In January, many people anticipated that Aaron Wan-Bissaka would leave Manchester United after a difficult start to the season. However, the former Crystal Palace player has since improved significantly and appears to be ahead of Diogo Dalot in Erik ten Hag’s preferences.
At centre-back, Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez form a formidable partnership that is unlikely to be disrupted. However, if Harry Maguire chooses to depart, United may need to search for a replacement in the transfer market.
In recent times, Luke Shaw has been a regular fixture at left-back, having temporarily lost his spot to Tyrell Malacia back in September.
Midfield: Bellingham, Casemiro, Fernandes
Manchester United’s midfield has long been regarded as inferior to that of their rivals. However, if they are successful in signing Jude Bellingham, they would have one of the best midfield trios in world football.
The 19-year-old is a top target for United, and with the team improving steadily (apart from the recent 7-0 loss to Liverpool), they have a good chance of securing his services.
Bellingham would likely partner with Casemiro in midfield, allowing Bruno Fernandes to operate as the team’s No. 10.
Forwards: Antony, Kane, Rashford
Manchester United currently have several options for wingers, including Alejandro Garnacho, Facundo Pellistri, and Jadon Sancho. However, Antony and Marcus Rashford are typically the preferred choices in those positions and are unlikely to be displaced anytime soon.
The team is aware of their need for a world-class striker to replace Wout Weghorst in the summer transfer window. Harry Kane is reportedly the top target for Erik ten Hag, but any deal is likely to be expensive. However, if the team receives additional financial support from a potential takeover, money may not be a major obstacle.

On Friday, Sir Jim Ratcliffe also met with Manchester United executives to discuss a potential takeover. The interested parties are expected to make their final bids for the club by next week, and a decision is expected to be made in April.
