Man Utd Told to Expect a “Killer” with a Reputation for Being “Unpleasant” in New Signing
Marcel Sabitzer has arrived in Manchester ahead of his loan transfer from Bayern Munich to Manchester United.
Sabitzer will join the Red Devils on loan until the conclusion of the current season, with no option to purchase.
Christian Eriksen has been ruled out for a few months after suffering an injury in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Reading. Man United have been linked with a number of midfielders today following the news.
Despite reportedly being offered the opportunity to sign Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, Sabitzer quickly became the club’s top target.
Sabitzer’s Bayern Munich teammate Ryan Gravenberch, managed by Erik ten Hag at Ajax, was rumored to be of interest to Manchester United.
Sabitzer, however, is their man to fill the void left by Eriksen.
Tuesday evening, the 28-year-old arrived at Carrington to undergo his medical examinations and sign his contract with Manchester United.
Florian Plettenberg, a German journalist, tweeted at 21:22 that the player’s medical examination is currently taking place before providing us with a player profile from his agent.
Sabitzer’s agent, Roger Wittmann, has stated that his client is “the most unpleasant person to be around when he’s not playing,” which likely explains why a transfer to Manchester United was so straightforward.
This season, he has appeared 23 times across all competitions, but only 11 times as a starter.
Wittmann said, as reported by Plettenberg: “The most unpleasant person to be around when he’s not playing. He hates it when he loses. That’s the bottom line.
“Character-wise, the kid is a killer. That’s what players who always want to win look like.”
Sabitzer will compete with Fred for a starting position, as Eriksen, Donny van de Beek, and Scott McTominay are currently sidelined due to injury.
McTominay’s condition is believed to be short-term, whereas Eriksen’s return date is anticipated to be no earlier than late April and Van de Beek is out until the conclusion of the 2022-23 season.
Since Ten Hag’s midfield options are limited, Sabitzer will likely be a pleasant companion once his transfer to Manchester United becomes official.
