Man Utd target Victor Osimhen makes transfer preference clear after secret trip
Paris Saint-Germain has expressed interest in acquiring the services of Napoli forward Victor Osimhen. However, Osimhen has indicated a preference for a transfer to the Premier League, despite recently visiting the French capital.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made it a priority to secure a new central striker for the upcoming season, with the aim of bolstering their attacking options for the future.
The 24-year-old Osimhen is held in high esteem by the transfer decision-makers at United and is at the top of the club’s list of potential strikers.
During Napoli’s Champions League match against Milan last month, scouts from Manchester United were present. Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker, scored in that game, although Napoli did not advance in the tournament. However, Osimhen’s goals played a crucial role in helping Napoli secure their first league title in 33 years.
According to a recent report in Naples-based Il Mattino, Manchester United is currently leading the race to secure the signing of Victor Osimhen this summer. The interest from other clubs such as Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly prompted United to accelerate their pursuit of the Nigerian striker.
The report suggests that individuals within Napoli believe that Osimhen is somewhat distracted by the Premier League clubs’ interest. There is a growing belief that Napoli may consider selling the player in the upcoming transfer window, but only if they receive an offer that they consider too good to turn down.
Another report from RMC Sport confirms that Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in Osimhen is genuine. The striker recently visited the French capital, although it was unrelated to any transfer discussions. While Osimhen does not rule out a potential move to the Ligue 1 champions, his preference is to play in English football.
In March, Victor Osimhen expressed that it would be a “dream” for him to play in the Premier League, particularly as the links connecting him to a move to Old Trafford intensified. Following his statement, Manchester United has dispatched scouts to observe Osimhen’s performances closely, indicating their interest in the striker.
The striker said: “I think playing in one of the top five leagues in the world is an amazing feeling for me. A lot of people worldwide consider the Premier League as the best and the strongest league but now I’m in one of the best leagues in the world which is the Italian Serie A.
“I’m working so hard to make sure that I achieve my dream of playing in the Premier League someday but as I said, it’s a process and I just want to keep on this momentum and continue to do well.”
Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been a long-term target for Manchester United, but there is a possibility that he may choose to renew his contract with Tottenham instead of seeking a move
However, United holds great admiration for Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos and Mohammed Kudus, both of whom were coached by Erik ten Hag during his time at Ajax. Another player being monitored by United is Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, who is seen as a more affordable option.
