Man Utd sends Cristiano Ronaldo’s message to Juventus as Solskjaer schemes five new signings.

Manchester United have reportedly told Juventus to ‘wait’ to see if they can discover a compromise for Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

Ronaldo is associated with a move back to United with his future at Juve up in the air. The Portugal superstar’s agreement with the Old Lady lapses at the end of next season.

Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be involved in signing Ronaldo.

Speaking on Reach PLC’s Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles says United are one of the clubs that have been offered to sign the 36-year-old.

However, the Red Devils are waiting to see how their other transfer business sweeps out first.

Castles insists Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is intent to strengthen in five areas of the pitch this summer.

“He’s been offered to Manchester United,” Castles said.

“Manchester United’s response has been: ‘Yes we are interested, but wait and see whether we can do that. Hold off, you’re in our thoughts’ but they’re not progressing it at present, which fits with what we’ve been telling you about Manchester United’s transfer strategy for this summer.

“They want a centre-forward, they want a midfielder, they want someone at centre-back, they’re also looking at right-back and they’re looking at the right side of attack.

“But the fundamental driving force here is how much do the Glazers have to do to appease the supporters? At a time where they’ve had unprecedented protest of their ownership of the club.

“They’ve not advanced enough for Cristiano Ronaldo to believe that’s the most likely place for him to go.”

Castles says Juventus as a club, as well as manager Massimiliano Allegri, are interested to sell Ronaldo this summer.

Allegri wants to use Ronaldo’s payments for targets he is contemplating bringing in during his first window back at the club.

Castles added: “Juventus want to sell Cristiano Ronaldo, or if they can’t sell him get him off their books for the coming season. They need to do that for FFP purposes.

“They won’t state that publicly but that has been the plan for some time and they’ve been working to find somewhere that is acceptable to Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Allegri’s arrival, and Allegri being given control and authority over transfers, has not changed that.

“Again my understanding is that Allegri, he will not say this publicly, but he would prefer it if Ronaldo’s salary is removed from the books and he is able to use that salary in different areas.”
