Man Utd pair tell team-mates they will leave club this summer despite Erik ten Hag arrival
Outcasts of Manchester United Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are said to have informed their teammates that they will be departing Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.
Despite the fact that Erik ten Hag has been appointed as the club’s next permanent manager in order to give the Red Devils a fresh start. The current Ajax manager is anticipated to replace the existing group after a disastrous season that saw them miss out on a Champions League spot for next season.
Given United’s poor goal-scoring record in the top seven of the Premier League, defense is believed to be one of the primary areas Ten Hag will try to strengthen.
The Dutchman is said to be keen in bringing in at least one new centre-back as part of that deal.
However, neither Bailly nor Jones are anticipated to join Ten Hag’s revolution, according to the Manchester Evening News, who reports that they have ‘outlined their decision’ to depart.
The pair are claimed to have told their teammates of their decision, with only two games remaining in the Red Devils’ season.
Bailly only signed a new contract with United in April, extending his tenure at Old Trafford until 2024.
However, club executives now regard the decision to give the Ivorian international that contract as a’mistake.’
This season, he has grown increasingly unhappy with his lack of playing time.
That dissatisfaction recently came to the surface when he expressed his displeasure on Instagram at being benched against Arsenal.
Jones, meantime, has recovered admirably from a chronic knee injury that has kept him out for the majority of the last two years.
However, he has been mainly injury-free this season, allowing him to move ahead of Bailly in the pecking order.
However, the Englishman is ready to terminate his United career after 11 years at the club, a year before his contract expires.
United will most likely only be able to bring in little sums for the two, but it will give Ten Hag to rethink his options.
