Man Utd may have a secret weapon to entice Thomas Tuchel to abandon Chelsea and become their next manager
Manchester United seem to have a secret weapon they may use to persuade Thomas Tuchel to leave Chelsea and take over as their next manager.
Tuchel has surfaced as an unexpected candidate for the vacant Old Trafford manager’s position.
After replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November, Ralf Rangnick is in command of the Red Devils until the end of the season.
However, the German’s employment was only temporary, and in the summer, he would transition to a consulting post.
As a result, when the summer arrives, United will be looking for a new CEO once more.
Mauricio Pochettino and Erik Ten Hag were regarded to be the frontrunners for the job, with both being willing to leave PSG and Ajax, respectively.
However, their chances have dwindled in recent weeks as a result of their team’s performances in the Champions League’s last 16.
Pochettino supervised PSG’s stunning collapse against Real Madrid in the second leg, while Ten Hag’s Ajax were eliminated by Benfica.
As a result, Tuchel’s name has surfaced as a possible replacement, particularly in light of Chelsea’s sanctions.
After the UK government initiated action against Roman Abramovich, the Blues have been severely constrained in their day-to-day activities and are unable to buy or trade players.
As a result, former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher has pushed United to sign Tuchel, with sources claiming the Red Devils are keeping an eye on the German.
United might even use Rangnick as a hidden weapon to entice his countryman to Old Trafford, according to the Daily Mail.
Following their time in the Bundesliga, the current United manager is said to have ‘tight ties’ with Tuchel.
And if the Red Devils are successful in luring Tuchel away from Stamford Bridge, they will be able to take advantage of this.
The Chelsea manager is currently one of the top prospects, but he has stated that he will stay with the club until the conclusion of the season.
However, his future beyond this summer is uncertain, with United’s search for a replacement manager already at a ‘advanced stage.’
