Man Utd fans hijack live TV to shout Ole Gunnar Solskjaer abuse at Roy Keane
While England’s 5-0 win over Albania was being discussed, a small group of Manchester United fans yelled “Ole out” at Red Devils legend Roy Keane.
The raucous taunts were directed at United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is under increasing pressure after a poor run of form at Old Trafford.
Keane, a friend and former teammate of Solskjaer’s, was part of ITV’s coverage of the Three Lions game, but the shouts quickly turned to Man Utd after the full-time whistle.
Keane has been especially fair in his assessment of Solskjaer’s tenure at United, avoiding blindly defending a former teammate in order to provide a balanced perspective.
He has also turned his attention to the players themselves, specifically the Manchester United players who also represent England, claiming that there is’something amiss’ between them.
Speaking prior to kick-off at Wembley, Keane said: “Every case is different, [Jadon] Sancho hasn’t been getting many minutes recently.
“The issue I suppose with [Marcus] Rashford and [Mason] Greenwood is that whenever they’re selected it seems to be an issue.
“I know they’ve had injuries, I understand that, but we know their quality and when Gareth is asked about them he says ‘yeah I spoke to Marcus…’ It seems like a big conversation.
“It’s as if there’s something going wrong, there’s something amiss with some of these United lads.”
Though Keane’s attention was initially drawn to United and England’s attacking players, it was quickly diverted into the path of United captain Harry Maguire for all the wrong reasons.
After the Red Devils captain scored his country’s first goal with a powerful header, his celebration appeared to be directed at those who had criticized him in recent weeks.
Maguire sped away, his fingers in his ears, as if he wasn’t paying attention to those who had been questioning him in recent weeks.
It was a move that did not sit well with Keane, who used the half-time break to chastise the defender for his stunt.
“He puts his hands to his ears like he’s shutting his critics up… it’s embarrassing,” Keane blasted.
“He’s been a disgrace last few months for Manchester United, he scores and he thinks he’s going to shut his critics up, it’s embarrassing.”
