Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent a stark warning following Tottenham win

Manchester United legend Roy Keane delivered a stern warning to Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by repeating his famous dig at Tottenham.

United earned a much-needed win for their manager as they easily defeated a poor Tottenham Hotspur side 3-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Keane labeling Nuno Espirito Santo’s players ‘abysmal.’

After a disastrous run of form in recent weeks, which was exacerbated by last weekend’s 5-0 thrashing by rivals Liverpool, Solskjaer desperately needed a win.

United had not won in four Premier League games prior to this one. They had only won two of their previous seven games across all competitions.

Both of those victories came in the Champions League, where they are on the verge of qualifying for the knockout stages.

Former Manchester United captain Keane, on the other hand, has warned Solskjaer that his toughest test is yet to come, and he has repeated an amusing jibe at Tottenham.

In his autobiography, the ex-midfielder wrote about the pre-match preparations under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson when United faced the North Londoners.

“It was Tottenham at home. I thought: ‘Please don’t go on about Tottenham, we all know what they’re about, they’re nice and tidy but we’ll f*g do them’,” Keane recalled.

“He came in and said: ‘Lads, it’s Tottenham’, and that was it. Brilliant.”

After Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, and Marcus Rashford scored, Keane echoed similar sentiments about Nuno’s team.

He went on to say that Solskjaer’s job is not entirely secure. United will play Atalanta in the Champions League before hosting fierce rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford.

“Spurs haven’t scored many goals in their 10 games. We’ve just seen the stats there, [United had] less possession that Spurs. That’s perfect, just sit in,” Keane told Sky Sports.

“Once United got the first goal, it was a case of: ‘How many do we want to score?’

“It was the perfect day for Man Utd. Go back to when I played, we always used to say: ‘It’s Spurs, we will beat Spurs’.

“They (Spurs) looked desperate. The biggest criticism I could give this Spurs team is that they were 2-0 down and had a corner after 75 minutes.

“Man Utd took everyone back to defend the corner. Spurs kept three players back

“They’re 2-0 down at home. Abysmal. Job done [for United]. But then again, the bigger game is next week against Manchester City.”

Solskjaer credited goal scorers Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani with helping him secure a resounding victory.

The Norwegian said told Sky: “The experience of Edinson Cavani and Cristiano is massive. We need it. We can’t hide.

“The week has been difficult for all the players. They really stuck at it. Exprience counts in situations like this.”
