Man Utd and Chelsea struggling to decide kick off time as fans label delay a “disgrace”

Chelsea fans have called the lack of a kick-off time for their match against Manchester United a “disgrace.”

Because of the Champions League fixtures, the game has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 22, with Sky already selecting it as one of their picks.

It was originally scheduled for a Super Sunday 4.30pm game on October 23, but Chelsea was drawn to play RB Salzburg the following Tuesday, so it was rescheduled.

While fans are blaming the broadcasters, it is understood that the clubs’ inability to agree on a kick-off time is what has caused the problem.

It would logically be played at 5.30pm, but one of the clubs has objected, and the Premier League is pushing for it to be resolved as soon as possible so that fans can plan travel and accommodation for what is always one of the biggest games of the season.

The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust said: “This highly anticipated fixture is slowly becoming a nightmare for many. A decision needs to be made without delay. We remind everyone that we are supporters, not customers.”

BT Sport will broadcast United’s trip to Everton on Sunday at 7 p.m., an unusual kick-off time but part of a new agreement to assist Premier League teams in Europe.

Because United and Everton are so close, they could play on Sunday night rather than the unpopular lunchtime slot that many fans dislike after a trip to Europe.
