Man Utd £68m Cristiano Ronaldo transfer theory. Ronaldo heading back to Man U?

Cristiano Ronaldo has been associated with a return to Manchester United and it seems likely he could leave Juventus to head back to Old Trafford.
Manchester United reportedly believes Cristiano Ronaldo’s price this summer could be reduced because of the huge cost of his earnings to Juventus each season. It’s believed his gross salary and the amortization of his agreement sets the Italian giants back around £68million (€80m) every year.
Ronaldo’s future is unresolved after three years in Turin and he was an unused replacement for the final day of the season when Juve’s Champions League situation was yet to be settled.
Despite his age, the 36-year-old outscored Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku – another ex-United frontman – to be established Serie A’s top scorer after 29 strikes in 33 matches.
Despite that it is believed Ronaldo – who is out of agreement in a year – could move on from the Allianz Stadium in the coming months.
That view is partially down to the huge cost of keeping him in Italy for an extra 12 months. The financial burden that Juve are under would be lifted almost solely by dropping Ronaldo’s salary off the wage bill.
And The Athletic state that United believe his price could be brought down by the fact Juve need to check the books and would relish the opportunity to remove his pay-packet.
The Portugal captain has economic reasons to stay at Juve due to tax incentives in the country but may be open to another unique challenge.
Juve have disappointed to win the Champions League since his £99m move from Real Madrid in 2018 which was masterminded because of the Bianconeri’s wish to lift a first European Cup since 1996.
The Athletic say that notwithstanding the theory he could be available at a price much lower than that, it is likely Juve will furthermore want to at least equal his book value on their accounts.
That is expected to stand at roughly £24m which on top of his wages for at least two seasons, any deal for Ronaldo still would not come reduced for the Red Devils.
Yet a return to Old Trafford for the first time since 2009, having spent six years there under Sir Alex Ferguson, may be a real feasibility this season.

Reports from Spain have hinted a move back to United is a ‘priority’ for Ronaldo as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner explores to move on.
Although Juve achieved Champions League football by finishing fourth and have brought Massimiliano Allegri back to the club, Ronaldo is said to fancy a fifth career switch.
Express Sport had been told earlier this summer that a return for Ronaldo would not be considered.
But it seems that stand on the Portuguese superstar may have changed 11years on from his farewell to Real Madrid, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said to remain in touch with his former team-mate.
It is unclear how signing Ronaldo would influence United’s other plans for the season with Borussia Dortmund and England winger Jadon Sancho, who would cost at least £77m, a top target.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane are other valuable possible additions said to be wanted by United, with Solskjaer keen to make at least two or three steals to establish his starting eleven.
But the chance of an emotional return for Ronaldo, a man with 674 club career goals and 229 assists in 894 debuts, might be too difficult to disregard for the United hierarchy.
That is notwithstanding the reality he would immediately become the club’s highest-paid player over David de Gea, though his pedigree speaks for itself and it is believed United would be able to warrant his wages as such.
ESPN have meanwhile insisted that Solskjaer wants as many as five signings to beef up his team having been handed a £150m transfer budget, before player sales.
A striker, a winger, a defensive midfielder, a centre-back and a right-back are all being monitored, with Ronaldo hanging very much into the centre-forward class.
