Man United star rules himself out of Newcastle United clash – now seven out with four doubtful

Tom Heaton, the goalkeeper for Manchester United, has disclosed that he won’t be able to play in the upcoming Premier League game against Newcastle United on Sunday at 4:30 pm due to an ankle injury.

Even though he has been the main substitute for David de Gea this season, his absence will give Jack Butland a chance to take his place on the bench.

Butland, who has been on loan from Crystal Palace since January, hasn’t been included in any Premier League matchday squad yet.

“Yeah, unfortunately the day before the Fulham game, I rolled my ankle in training,” Heaton told MUFCTV. “Thankfully, it’s not too bad but it’ll mean a couple of weeks out, I think. I should be back some point in April somewhere, hopefully halfway through.

“It’s an occupational hazard unfortunately, a bit of a random one but, yeah, I just went over on the ankle and nicked the ligament. I’m in this [protective boot] for another few days then hope to get it back moving again.”

Erik ten Hag must be feeling frustrated as yet another player joins Manchester United’s injury list. In total, seven players have been ruled out of the game against Newcastle United, and another four players are doubtful to play. Here’s the complete list of injured and suspended players for Manchester United:

Marcus Rashford – doubful: – He should start on the left wing after missing both England games with an injury and returning to training.

Tom Heaton – The No. 2 for Manchester United has suffered an ankle injury and will miss a few weeks of action.

Donny van de Beek – Van de Beek will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season due to a knee injury he sustained in January’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

Christian Eriksen – It is anticipated that Eriksen will not be able to play until mid-April due to an ankle injury caused by a tough tackle from Andy Carroll, who used to play for Newcastle United.

Casemiro – suspended: Casemiro received his second red card in as few as three Premier League matches against Southampton earlier this month, resulting in a four-match suspension.

Anthony Martial – doubt: The Frenchman has been sidelined since mid-January due to an ongoing hip problem.

Alejandro Garnacho – In a recent Premier League match against Crystal Palace, Garnacho suffered an ankle ligament injury and will not return until the latter stages of the season.
